Rogue Leveling Guide (1-65)
The Rogue path from newbie pickpocket to backstab raid DPS.
Leveling a Rogue on The Last Camp from 1 to 65.
The Rogue is a pure-DPS group class. Backstab from behind the tank's target, sneak around dangerous patrols, pickpocket NPCs for free coin, evade aggro on overpull. From 1 to 65 your role is the same: stab things from behind, run away when needed, scout when asked. There's no Mez, no heal, no nuke, no tanking — just precise positional damage and stealth utility.
Rogues are group-locked from level 8 onward. You cannot solo efficiently — your damage is melee-only and you have no taunt or self-heal. Backstab requires positional and a piercer; without a group tank holding aggro, the Rogue eats hits the moment they backstab. The good news: group demand is high in any zone with named mobs and split pulls, and your Sneak/Hide makes you the party's scout.
At a glance
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Solo strength | Weak (no heals, no taunt, requires positional) |
| Group demand | High (raw DPS + Sneak/Hide utility) |
| Hardest tier | 1-15 (no real backstab, weak fists, slow XP) |
| Easiest tier | 51+ (Rogue discs land, top group/raid DPS) |
| The Last Camp race options | All 16 (per server doctrine — see race notes below) |

The Last Camp any-race-class race notes
Canonical Rogue races (Human, Half Elf, Dwarf, Wood Elf, Halfling, Dark Elf, Erudite, Gnome, Vah Shir) all have racial Rogue guilds and starter gear. The Last Camp-only combos open the class to Iksar, Ogre, and Troll. Iksar Rogue is the most viable The Last Camp-only combo — natural regen + AC, starts in Cabilis with full Iksar infrastructure. Faction adjustments needed for Freeport/Qeynos travel.
Ogre Rogue has a comically large hitbox that makes Sneak/Hide harder, but the racial Strength and HP pool partially offset. Troll Rogue suffers same problem with regen as upside. High Elf Rogue is rare but viable — start in Felwithe, no faction friction. Halfling Rogue is the canonical optimal pick — small hitbox, great Sneak/Hide, racial poison-resist.
Equipment goals per tier
| Tier | Weapon target | Armor target | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-10 | Starter dagger + 1H slash | Cloth + leather | Bind at home, skill up Hide/Sneak |
| 10-20 | Smoldering Brand, decent 1H | Leather | Crushbone belt |
| 20-40 | Wurmstone, fine piercer + slasher | Hardened leather → studded | Apply poisons from 30 |
| 40-60 | Wurmslayer, Ragebringer (Epic) | Fungi, Velious leather | Epic by 55 |
| 60-65 | PoP elemental piercer, Time-tier dual-wield | Elemental Rogue gear, Time leather | AAs > gear past 62 |
Common mistakes
- Backstabbing from the front — position behind the tank's target, every time.
- Forgetting to apply poison — it's free damage past 30.
- Skipping Pick Pockets skill — it's free coin and consumables.
- Tanking — you can't. Don't try.
- Standing on the tank — you'll eat AOE; stand behind the mob, not next to the tank.
- Skipping Sneak/Hide drills — they lag brutally if you don't keep current.
