Shadow Knight AA Priorities
SK AA spend at The Last Camp PoP cap — fear-pull specialist, DoT-tank, or lifetap soloer.
Shadow Knight AA priorities at The Last Camp PoP cap (level 65). AAs are the primary specialization path beyond the level cap — there is no expansion content past PoP, so AA xp is the long-term progression.
For Shadow Knights, AAs decide whether you become a fear-pull aggro god, a survivable DoT tank that out-grinds Warriors, or a lifetap soloer who never needs a healer. The SK tree leans heavier into hate generation and self-sustain than the Paladin tree — the class plays defense by killing things faster.
At a glance
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Total AA pool (PoP era) | ~270-310 across all categories |
| Priority categories | General mitigation > Class hate/lifetap > Archetype melee |
| Hard prerequisites | Combat Stability 3 before Planar Durability |
| Soft prerequisites | Pet Affinity before pet buff investment |
Build priorities (in order)
Tier 1 — Foundation (first 30-50 AAs)
- Combat Stability 1-3 — mitigation, tank role
- Combat Agility 1-3 — avoidance
- Mnemonic Retention 1 — fear + snare + lifetap + DoT
- Run 3 — universal
- Innate Stamina — soft cap raise
Tier 2 — Core spec (50-150 AAs)
- Soul Abrasion — lifetap proc on melee swings; signature SK AA
- Spell Casting Mastery 1-3 — faster fear cast for pulls
- Hate Conduit — bonus aggro on lifetap spells
- Pet Affinity — pet receives group buffs
- Mass Group Buff (only if also slotted as buff backup)
Tier 3 — Endgame polish (150+ AAs)
- Punishing Blade — primary-hand damage
- Strikethrough — bypass riposte
- Leech Touch — Harm Touch AA upgrade (recast/damage)
- Spell Casting Reinforcement — DoT/lifetap crit chance
General AAs to prioritize
- Run 3 (always)
- Combat Stability 3 (tank role)
- Combat Agility 3
- Mnemonic Retention 2-3
- Spell Casting Mastery 3
Archetype AAs (shared with related classes)
- Combat Stability / Agility — every melee tank
- Pet Affinity — Mag, Nec, Bst, SK
- Punishing Blade / Strikethrough — melee archetype
- Spell Casting Mastery / Reinforcement — caster archetype shared with Pal/Rng
Class-defining AAs
- Soul Abrasion — SK-only lifetap proc on melee, scales hate + sustain
- Hate Conduit — SK-only bonus hate per lifetap
- Leech Touch — Harm Touch AA enhancement (faster recast / more damage)
- Spirit of the Black Wolf equivalent on later SK tree tiers
- SK pet AAs distinct from Necro line — focus on tank-pet utility
Common pitfalls
- Skipping Soul Abrasion to take only mitigation AAs — SA is mitigation. The lifetap proc keeps you up.
- Buying Pet Affinity without using the pet — many SKs treat the pet as cosmetic. If you never summon it, skip.
- Ignoring Spell Casting Mastery — fear costs a lot of mana. Without SCM, your fear pull cycle dies.
- Hate Conduit before basic mitigation — you have to live to generate hate. Combat Stability first.
- Treating SK as Warrior-equivalent — your survival tools are spells, not raw HP. Build the spell side.
The Last Camp any-race-class note
SK AA priority does not change with race. Iksar SK gains Innate Regen which is extraordinarily strong with Soul Abrasion lifetaps — net HP-positive between fights. Erudite SK has higher base INT for fear/lifetap mana pool. Non-canonical race choices (Half-Elf, Wood Elf SK on The Last Camp) lose HP/STA — invest Innate Stamina earlier than usual.
If you swapped from canonical Dark Elf or Troll SK to a small race for cosmetic reasons, expect to spend an extra 10-15 AAs on Innate STA + Combat Stability before you tank comfortably at the cap.
