Beastlord Leveling Guide (1-65)
The Beastlord path from newbie warder-bond to dual-DPS solo melee.
Leveling a Beastlord on The Last Camp from 1 to 65.
The Beastlord is the Luclin-era hybrid — half Monk, half Shaman, all warder-bond. You and your warder pet attack together as a dual-DPS unit; you keep the warder slowed-target with your Shaman-derived slow line; you self-heal and buff via Shaman-derived support spells; you melee in H2H or 1H+1H with disciplines and Frenzy. The combo solos better than any pure melee class and groups respectably as DPS-puller.
The class has the strongest sustained pet-DPS in the game. Your warder hits like a 60% Magician pet, but unlike the Mage pet, the warder upgrades happen slowly and naturally with leveling, not via reagent-summon. Beastlord soloing is steady, slow, and survivable — you'll never die to a charm-break or a DoT-tick miscount. Group play is reliable melee DPS plus pet DPS plus emergency slow utility. Bring a willingness to coexist with a warder that occasionally pulls aggro and a love for Stonebrunt Mountains.

The Last Camp any-race-class race notes
Canonical Beastlord races (Iksar, Vah Shir, Troll, Ogre, Barbarian) all worship spirit-aligned gods and have racial warder types — Iksar warder is a sarnak-cat, Vah Shir is a tiger, Troll is a swamp-lizard, Ogre is a pack-hound, Barbarian is a wolf. The Last Camp unlocks Beastlord for every race, and the warder appearance is determined by your race — Halfling Beastlord gets a small fey-cat warder, Erudite gets a spectral panther, etc.
Dark Elf Beastlord worships Innoruuk and starts in Neriak. Halfling Beastlord starts in Rivervale — small character, small warder, charming aesthetic. Wood Elf Beastlord in Kelethin — Tunare-aligned, no faction friction. All races viable; the racial warder appearance is the main aesthetic differentiator. Stat distribution favors STR/STA-heavy races (Ogre, Troll, Barbarian) for higher base damage.
Equipment goals per tier
| Tier | Weapon target | Armor target | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-10 | Wu's Trance Stick or basic H2H | Cloth + leather | Bind at home, bond warder |
| 10-20 | Iksar bone-fists, dual 1H | Silk + leather | Crushbone belt, slow at 19 |
| 20-40 | Iksar Berserker Club, fine H2H | Hardened leather → silk | Stonebrunt prep |
| 40-60 | Spirit of the Howler (Epic), Luclin H2H | Fungi, Velious silk/leather | Epic by 55 |
| 60-65 | PoP elemental H2H, Time-tier fists | Elemental Beastlord gear, Time leather | Warder AA priority |
Common mistakes
- Forgetting to recast warder buffs — your warder dies fast without them.
- Slowing summoning mobs — fizzle, waste mana.
- Tanking — Beastlord avoidance is fine, AC is silk-tier. Let the warder tank.
- Skipping Stonebrunt Mountains for the 40-50 tier — it's tailor-made for Beastlords.
- Ignoring Slow utility in groups — even mid-tier slow is worth landing.
- Forgetting to feed warder — class mechanic exists, keep meat in inventory.
