Lower Guk
The premier Classic-era dungeon. Frogloks living and dead, 35-50 XP, Fungi Staff drops, legendary camp culture.
- Upper Guk
Lower Guk is the premier Classic-era 35-50 dungeon. A multi-tiered underwater and cave system where the Frogloks live in an uneasy divided society — the living side and the dead side, each with their own rulers, politics, and drop tables. Lower Guk's camp culture is the most disciplined on the server; its drops include some of the most famous mid-game items in the game.
Geography
Lower Guk is vertically layered. You enter from Upper Guk at the top and descend through named chambers.
Living Side (top → mid)
Living Frogloks live in organized camps:
- Froglok Warrior camp — 35-40. Melee patrols.
- Froglok Wizard camp — 38-42. Caster patrols, magic resist gear-check.
- Froglok King's Court — 42-48. The named Froglok King spawns here on a long timer with a limited crown drop.
Dead Side (mid → deep)
The undead side is where the legendary drops live:
- Ghoul Lord camp — 40-44. Ghoul Lord's rare slow-spawn drops the Ghoul Lord's Staff (caster-healer item).
- Fungi camp — 44-48. Ghouls and undead champions guard the named who drops Fungi Staff of Many Names — the regen-on-click caster staff that changed the Classic solo meta.
- Bottom chambers — 45-50. The deepest named, harder pulls, best loot.
The Fungus camp / Fungus-Covered Scale Tunic
The Fungus-Covered Scale Tunic — passive HP regen chest piece — drops from a named in the deep Dead Side. Combined with the Fungi Staff, it turns any solo-capable class into a regen-engine. Both items are staples of the Classic solo meta.
Named NPCs
| NPC | Level | Spawn | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| the Froglok King | 47 | ~28 min spawn cycle | Living-side ruler of the King's Court |
| the Ghoul Lord | 47 | ~28 min spawn cycle | Dead-side, drops the Ghoul Lord's Staff |
| the Ghoul Arch Magus | 45 | ~28 min spawn cycle | Dead-side caster |
| Raster of Guk | 35 | ~28 min spawn cycle | classic mid-tier named |
| Slaythe the Slayer | 32 | ~28 min spawn cycle | classic mid-tier named |
Lower Guk's named are placeholder-cycle spawns — the listed time is the spawn-point repop (TAKP-canonical 1714s); the named appears on a chance within its camp's cycle. All five drop their canonical TAKP loot tables.
Iconic drops
- Fungi Staff of Many Names — caster/healer staff with click-cast regen. Long-camp-list iconic drop.
- Fungus-Covered Scale Tunic — HP regen chest piece.
- Ghoul Lord's Staff — caster-healer staff with a spell-cast effect.
- Froglok King's Crown — named-only, high-CHA.
- Froglok Scale armor set — drops piecemeal from Living side frogloks.
- Various class-specific items from Dead Side named — cleric heal-items, rogue dagger, etc.
Etiquette
Lower Guk has strict camp culture. This is where you learn the social contracts:
- Announce camp in /ooc on entry. "Fungi camp at bottom" or "Ghoul Lord upper."
- Camp lists exist for the Froglok King, the Ghoul Lord, and the Fungi named. Check for a list before pulling.
- Don't train. Trains in Lower Guk wipe multiple camps. Never run full-HP past other groups.
- Don't ninja drops. Named drop assignments are usually group-internal; if there's confusion, ask first.
Pull mechanics
Lower Guk rewards careful pullers:
- Monks FD-split the patrols.
- Bards can fade-pull.
- Necromancers summon corpses when things go wrong (a Lower Guk Necro is a valued group member).
ZEM
High ZEM for the 35-50 band. Lower Guk is tuned as a destination — on The Last Camp, the 35-50 XP rate here is intentionally strong.
Getting there
From Antonica center: travel to Innothule Swamp, enter Upper Guk, descend through the zone line to Lower Guk. Corpse recovery involves the whole path; do not bind outside — bind in Rivervale (nearest safe city) or the Plane of Knowledge.
Server notes (TAKP-canonical)
Verified TAKP-canonical via a full zone audit on 2026-05-26.
- Froglok society is faction-split. The living side (Frogloks of Guk, ~64 NPCs) and the dead side (Undead Frogloks of Guk, ~57 NPCs) hold opposing factions — working one side's faction raises while the other falls. Wildlife (water elementals, vampire bats) is KOS to all.
- Tight indoor aggro. Mobs use the canonical close aggro radius — short leashes, but pulls bunch fast in the corridors, which is exactly why the camp-culture etiquette above matters.
- Named loot is canonical. All five named bosses carry their verified TAKP loot tables; the iconic drops below are era-correct.
