THE LAST CAMP

Tailoring crafts cloth robes for casters, leather armor for scouts, and silk for high-end caster work. It's the soft-armor counterpart to smithing and one of the most useful tradeskills for gear-gap-filling — every leather-wearer (Ranger, Druid, Bard, Monk, Rogue) and every cloth-wearer (Wizard, Magician, Necromancer, Enchanter, Cleric) at some point benefits from a tailor friend.

The recipe book debuted classic with patchwork leather and basic cloth lines. Kunark added Iksar cultural silk and the Iksar tailoring sub-tree. Velious introduced wool and the Coldain Shawl chain — the canonical multi-tradeskill epic-tier crafting line. PoP added rare silk endgame components.

What it makes

Tailoring output spans four product families. Bags — small patchwork bag through 10-slot backpacks and silk endgame bags — are durable utility items every character buys. Leather armor clothes scout classes (Ranger, Druid, Bard, Monk, Rogue) at every tier. Cloth and silk robes dress caster classes; silk robes from Kunark forward are the premier caster gear before raid drops. The Coldain Shawl is the headline endgame work: a 13-step quest chain that uses tailoring at multiple steps and produces one of the era's iconic equip pieces.

Cultural recipes add another layer — Iksar silk, Vah Shir leather, Erudite cultural cloth — race-locked sets that compete with raid-tier gear in their slot.

Skill-up path (1 → 251)

1-50 (Trivial newbie tier)

  • Patchwork Leather Tunic (trivial 14): Patchwork Leather Lining + Padding + Strap.
  • Small Patchwork Bag (trivial 21): Patchwork Padding × 2 + Strap × 2 + Sewing Kit.
  • All components vendor-stocked at any tailor merchant.

50-100 (Apprentice)

  • Reinforced Leather Tunic (trivial 89): Reinforced Lining + Padding + Strap.
  • Large Sewing Kit / mid bags: 8-slot bag tier.
  • Sewing Kit components from any tailor; Reinforced from low-tier mob drops.

100-150 (Journeyman)

  • Backpack (trivial 122): Cured Silk × 8 + Silk Thread + Sewing Kit.
  • Hardened Leather: mid-tier scout armor.
  • Cured silk from Iksar zones and Erudin; volume buyer of silk thread.

150-200 (Expert)

  • Coldain Shawl tailoring steps (trivial 175-200): multiple combine stages.
  • Iksar Cultural Silk (race-locked): mid-tier Iksar silk caster set.
  • Wool from Velious mob drops; silk from Kunark and Luclin sources.

200-251 (Master)

  • Master tailor Trophy combine.
  • Coldain Shawl finalization (Velious-era pinnacle).
  • PoP-era silk endgame: rare components from PoP raid drops.

Signature high-end recipes

  • Coldain Shawl chain: 13-step Velious epic crafting line, multi-tradeskill, era pinnacle work.
  • Iksar Cultural Silk armor (race-locked): Iksar caster cultural set, full chain through Kunark.
  • Vah Shir Cultural Leather (race-locked): Vah Shir scout cultural set.
  • Backpack: durable 10-slot bag, perpetual market.
  • Wolf Hide armor: Druid and Ranger cultural-tier leather.

Tools and containers

The Loom is stationary and lives in most major cities (Kelethin, Felwithe, Qeynos, Freeport, Cabilis, Halas, PoK). The portable Sewing Kit handles a substantial subset of the recipe book — bags, basic leather armor — and is the recommended kit for traveling tailors. Some recipes specifically require the loom (silk weaving, Coldain Shawl steps), and you'll need to plan around loom location for those.

Cabilis loom is the canonical Iksar tailoring hub for cultural silk work; Vah Shir cultural leather requires the Shar Vahl loom.

The Last Camp any-race-class note

Tailoring is class-agnostic and the bulk of the recipe book is race-agnostic. Cultural recipes are race-locked: Iksar cultural silk requires the tailor to be Iksar, Vah Shir cultural leather requires the tailor to be Vah Shir, Erudite cultural to be Erudite. The Last Camp's any-race-class character creation does not unlock these cultural gates. To craft full Iksar cultural silk, you must be Iksar.

Class-specific output (Ranger leather patterns, Wizard robe patterns) follows canonical class gating on the equipped item, not the crafter.

Common pitfalls

  • Buying silk thread retail in Qeynos. Tailor merchants in Cabilis and Erudin sell silk thread at reduced prices.
  • Skipping bag combines for the trivial bonus. Bags are the fastest 1-100 grind in tailoring.
  • Trying to silk-weave with a Sewing Kit instead of a Loom. Some recipes require the Loom specifically.
  • Failed combines lose components. Plan inventory at 1.2-1.5× recipe count up through 100.
  • Stocking exotic leathers (wolf, bear) at low skill. Vendor patchwork is fine through 50.
  • Forgetting which Coldain Shawl step requires which tradeskill. Map the 13-step chain before grinding any single skill to its required tier.
