Factions
Dismal Rage
The Bertoxxulous priesthood of Freeport. Evil cleric order, hostile to good-aligned factions.
Dismal Rage is the Bertoxxulous priesthood operating out of West Freeport — the evil clerical order that mirrors the Bloodsabers in Qeynos and serves as the canonical opposing force to the Knights of Truth and the Temple of Marr. Where the Knights of Truth keep the surface streets, the Dismal Rage works the alleys behind the warehouses, the back rooms of the West Freeport temple precinct, and the tunnels that run under the Sewer entrance.
The Rage is the home faction for canonical evil clerics raised in Freeport and the city's standing reservoir of plague-cult content. Their public face is the West Freeport temple; their actual operations are the network of safe houses, hand-ins, and faction chains that gate the rest of the city's evil-aligned content.
Lore
The Dismal Rage is the older and more politically entrenched of the two great Bertoxxulous priesthoods on Antonica. Where the Bloodsabers operate strictly underground in Qeynos, the Rage holds visible turf in West Freeport — a temple precinct, a publicly recognized clergy, and an open relationship with the city's evil-aligned commerce that Freeport's split-power politics permits. Marcus Cellinius leads the order from the West Freeport temple as the canonical guildmaster contact for new evil-aligned clerics.
Bertoxxulous's larger project — the spread of plague, the corruption of bodies, the slow conversion of cities into death-yards — is the Rage's political theology, and the order's operations reflect that. The cult runs disease-tied content out of Befallen, coordinates with the Indigo Brotherhood for the wet work that requires daggers rather than incantations, and maintains a loose-but-functional truce with the Coalition of Tradesfolk on commerce questions.
The Rage's standing fight is with the Knights of Truth — Mithaniel Marr's paladins — and the Temple of Life. This conflict is encoded into Freeport's every aggro check: a Knights of Truth paladin and a Dismal Rage cleric standing in the same plaza will not be able to share that plaza for long.
Why grind it
For an evil cleric or necromancer, Dismal Rage standing unlocks the West Freeport trainer chain, the cult robe rewards, and the Bertoxxulous-aligned task chains that other characters can't see. The faction is also load-bearing for any character who wants to use West Freeport as a hub while running evil-aligned content — bind, bank, evil merchant access, and unaggro'd movement through the temple precinct.
Befallen-tier hand-ins to Bertoxxulous-aligned NPCs typically also flag Dismal Rage gain, which makes the Befallen grind double-purpose for an evil cleric working both the gear loop and the standing loop simultaneously.

The Last Camp any-race-class adjustments
Under The Last Camp's any-race-any-class doctrine, a Wood Elf Cleric or a Halfling Necromancer can grind Dismal Rage and take the same Bertoxxulous-aligned rewards a canonical evil-human cleric would. The Rage's checks are faction standing only — race-flagged greeting text from Marcus Cellinius and the cult scouts is flavor and does not gate the trainer access, the cult robe rewards, or the task chain progression.
