Nagafen's Lair — universally called Sol B — is the classic red-dragon lair, entered from Lavastorm Mountains. Kobolds, fire goblins, and fire giants fill the upper halls; a named dragon — Lord Nagafen — sleeps at the back.

Sol B is one half of the paired Classic dragon raids — Nagafen (fire) and Vox (ice) — defining Classic EverQuest first-raid accomplishments. Sol B is also a rich XP dungeon in the 30-45 band.

Geography

Sol B descends from the Lavastorm entrance through tiered caves.

Upper Caves (levels 30-38)

Kobold patrols, fire drakes, and kobold miners. Standard group camps. Named kobold shamans spawn here.

Mid Caves (levels 35-43)

Fire goblins and mid-tier drakes. Heavier pulls. Named fire giant patrols this tier.

Deep Caverns (levels 40-48)

Fire giants and rare named. Sebilis-adjacent difficulty.

Nagafen's Chamber (raid, level 50)

Lord Nagafen himself — flame-breathing raid dragon. Multi-phase fight. Drops the iconic Cloak of FlamesCloak of FlamesArmor·SLOT: BACKAC10HP+50AGI+9DEX+9HASTE+36%SV FIRE+15CLASSAllWT0.1MAGICLORE and class-specific raid items.

Notable drops

Why Sol B matters

Nagafen is a Classic-era first-raid benchmark. Every old guild has a Nagafen kill picture on their wall. The Cloak of Flames is so iconic that the loot list for Nagafen is one of the longest-running DKP entries in EverQuest history.

Pull mechanics

  • Kobolds — medium resist magic; casters can kite outdoors via zone-line. Classic kite kobold runs happen here.
  • Fire giants — heavy hits; tank hard.
  • Nagafen raid — flame breath AE damage. Anti-fire gear required.

ZEM

High ZEM for 30-48 content. Sol B is a destination XP zone alongside being a raid target.

Getting there

Lavastorm Mountains → deep entrance into the lair. Also connects to Solusek's Eye (Sol A) via deeper tunnels.
