Mayong Mistmoore
The vampire lord of Mistmoore Castle. Classic-era group-to-raid boss, Faydwer's vampire patriarch.
Mayong Mistmoore is the vampire lord of Mistmoore Castle — the patriarch of the Mistmoore vampire clan and the final named at the deep end of the castle complex. He is one of EverQuest's oldest named figures, his castle dating to the original game launch. His lore extends forward through every later expansion that touches the vampire mythos of Norrath, though only the Classic-era version is in scope on The Last Camp. The castle is one of the era's most visually distinctive dungeons — gothic architecture, candle-lit corridors, vampires and gargoyles patrolling in fixed routes — and Mayong is the boss who anchors that aesthetic.

Lore
Mayong is the eldest of his line and the founder of the Mistmoore clan, which holds the castle on the western edge of the Lesser Faydark in defiance of the Wood Elf rangers and the Faydark's Champions. The clan's vampires are not the rabid feral type found in some lore traditions — they are courtly, hierarchical, and operate the castle as a deliberate institution. They maintain an embassy in Neriak (the Indigo Brotherhood faction tie) and quiet trade relationships with the Crushbone orc clans further north. Mayong himself appears in formal robes, surrounded by a small standing court of vampire knights and his chamberlain.
In post-Classic EverQuest lore Mayong's story expanded considerably — later expansions named him as the architect of multiple plot arcs and ultimately as a god-aspirant. None of that post-PoP material is in scope for the era cap; on The Last Camp he is the same Classic-era vampire patriarch that the original game shipped. The Mistmoore Castle encounter is his single canonical appearance in the era, and the lore-expansion arcs that follow are not represented here.
The Mistmoore clan's relationship to Innoruuk is theological rather than political — vampires are not formally Innoruuk's faithful, but the clan's tolerance for cruelty and the Indigo Brotherhood embassy in Neriak are evidence of a working accommodation between the two powers.
Court and lieutenants
Mayong's standing court fills the deep castle: vampire knights, the chamberlain, the gargoyles at fixed posts, and a small set of named lieutenants in the side chambers. Each lieutenant is a notable pull in its own right with a modest loot table. The gargoyle stations on the upper terraces are minor named encounters that bridge between the upper and lower castle pulls. The castle's geometry forces a methodical descent — Mistmoore is one of the most pull-heavy dungeons of the era and rewards careful camp coordination.
Encounter
Mayong is a high-level single-spawn at the deep end of the castle, fightable by a strong six-character group or comfortably by a light raid. His signature mechanics include a vampiric drain that returns hits to him as health, a charm-style mez that requires the raid to be ready to break-and-tank, and a hard-hitting melee profile that demands a tank with appropriate AC and resists. The pull from the lower castle is logistically the hard part — the gargoyle and vampire knight patrols around his chamber social-aggro freely, and clearing them down to a single pull is the work of an hour for a careful group.
His chamber's design is one of the era's most photographed: a chandeliered audience hall with side-rooms for his court. The Last Camp tuning may differ — verify before pulling.
Approach
The standard Mistmoore approach is a strong six-character group or a light raid of 12-18 players, descending from the castle entry through the long corridor pulls and the gargoyle terraces. Charm-immunity buffs should be running on the cleric line by the time the chamber pull opens, and the tank should be stacked for both physical mitigation and resists against the vampiric drain. The gargoyle stations on the upper terraces are minor named pulls that should be cleared on the way in to avoid social-aggro hazards on the return. A standard kill clocks in at thirty to forty minutes, with the descent and clear taking the bulk of that time.
